Cookie Policy
Effective Date: March 3, 2026 · Last Updated: March 3, 2026
The short version: TrustChekr uses only essential cookies for basic functionality. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking cookies. We do not track you across the internet.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit them. They help websites remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience.
Not all cookies are the same. Some are essential for a website to function, while others are used for advertising, analytics, or tracking your behaviour across different websites.
Cookies and technologies we use
Essential cookies
We use a minimal number of essential cookies required for TrustChekr to function properly. These include:

|---|---|---|---|
| theme | Stores your dark/light mode preference | 1 year | Essential |
| high-contrast | Stores your high contrast accessibility setting | 1 year | Essential |
| text-size | Stores your preferred text size | 1 year | Essential |
Local storage
In addition to cookies, TrustChekr uses browser localStorage to store certain preferences and data on your device. localStorage data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

What we do NOT use
- • ❌ No advertising cookies. We do not display third-party advertisements and do not use advertising cookies or pixels.
- • ❌ No analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, or any other analytics tracking service.
- • ❌ No third-party tracking cookies. We do not allow third parties to place cookies on your device through our platform.
- • ❌ No cross-site tracking. We do not track your browsing activity on other websites.
- • ❌ No behavioural profiling. We do not build profiles of your behaviour, preferences, or interests.
- • ❌ No cookie consent banner needed. Because we only use essential cookies, we do not require a cookie consent banner under PIPEDA or most international privacy laws. We provide this policy for full transparency.
Managing your cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- • View what cookies are stored on your device
- • Delete individual cookies or all cookies
- • Block cookies from specific or all websites
- • Set preferences for how cookies are handled
If you delete TrustChekr's cookies, your preferences (theme, text size, high contrast) will be reset to defaults. Your Academy progress is stored in localStorage and will not be affected by clearing cookies (unless you also clear site data).
For instructions on managing cookies in your browser:
- • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
- • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- • Edge: Settings → Privacy, Search, and Services → Cookies
Service Worker (PWA)
TrustChekr offers a Progressive Web App (PWA) experience that allows you to install the platform on your device like a native app. This uses a service worker — a script that runs in the background to enable offline functionality and faster page loads.
Our service worker:
- • Caches page assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images) to improve loading speed
- • Uses a network-first strategy for pages (always tries to fetch fresh content)
- • Never caches API requests or scan results
- • Does not collect, transmit, or store personal information
- • Can be unregistered at any time through your browser settings
Do Not Track
TrustChekr honours Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. However, because we do not engage in any form of tracking, there is no tracking behaviour to disable. Your experience on TrustChekr is the same regardless of your DNT setting.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
TrustChekr respects Global Privacy Control signals. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, GPC signals do not change your experience on our platform, but we support the standard as a matter of principle.
Changes to this policy
If we introduce new cookies or tracking technologies in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy before doing so and, where required by law, obtain your consent. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
